Common Man, Common Sense

Welcome to Common Man, Common Sense. First off I’d like to introduce myself , explain how my blog came to be and also what kind of content it’s going to have. My name is Jorge Rosas Jr. I’m married, have two beautiful daughters and am pretty much just a regular guy. I’ve worked in the health insurance industry for most of my working life. As you probably already figured out I’m not even a real writer!  So why start writing a blog, right?  Well, as long as I can remember, I’ve always been into politics. Even as a little boy, strangly. As you’ll soon figure out,  I lean mostly  left with a few conservative ideals now and then. Once I was old enough to vote and a presidential election came around things weren’t difficult. I’d pick my candidate and that was it. I’d vote. I’m from Chicago so 9 out of 10 times, we were all voting for the same candidates. No need to argue with anyone.  Needless to say, when this election came around and a certain candidate announced his campaign, it was clear this was going to be like no other election before it and I REALLY got into it! I was furious from the onset and stunned that a candidate could use such divisive and hateful language and not only be accepted but flourish! With all that anger, I did the only thing I felt I could do and I started to vent on social media. Facebook mostly. At the beginning, most of my friends would agree and “like” my posts while others engaged in some banter.  Nothing serious. A few friends did actually “unfriend” me. That did hurt to tell you the truth. I felt as though they had chosen a hateful candidate (one that didn’t even know my friends existed) over our friendship. In one case, my friendship ended with a person who they’d known for years. After a while I realized that I probably went overboard. It dawned on me that I kept reiterating my points to a majority of people that already agreed with me and the people that didn’t agree probably had “unfollowed” a while ago since they had stopped arguing with me. Since then I toned it down but I kept feeling like I wasn’t doing enough. I wanted to do more. I wanted to express my feelings and inform people but of course with my opinion. I didn’t know how. The other day, I FB posted my opinion on a political issue and one of my very best friends whom I respect highly suggested I start a political blog and well, here we are for better or for worse. I don’t know the frequency of my posts given my limited time and brain capacity but they’ll be here. Some will be political, some will be fun and sometimes they may just get you to say, “WTF?!”. With that being said, I hope you like them and continue to join me. If you agree with me then cool! If you don’t then I hope you can at least respect my opinion and you never know, maybe you can start seeing some things from my point of view. Yeah I know, I said I was a regular guy not a f**king magician! In the meantime stay safe and God bless! See you next time.
